Southeast Tribes: YAZOO

	Yazoo The Yazoo are a part of the Tunican Language isolate. The Yazoo had matrilineal clans. All children were members of the mother's family and the mother's brothers tended to her children. Couples were not considered married until a child was born. At that point, there was an exchange of presents between families. The Yazoo have not been in existence since the 1700s. They were at war with the French who had hired the Quapaw to kill them. In 1729, there were only 15 Yazoo left alive and they joined the Chickasaws and Choctaws.
