Southeast Tribes: TIMUCUA

	Timucua The Timucua spoke the Timucuan Language isolate. The Timucua had matrilineal clans. The chief was determined by female lineage and by the mother's family. The chief was allowed to be polygynous. At puberty, girls would get their first tattoos. The Timucua had a formal wedding ceremony which was performed by a shaman. Children conceived out of wedlock were aborted or killed.
