	Sioux The Sioux Language is part of the Siouan Language family. A Sioux man was not considered to be worthy of marriage until he had killed an enemy or another human being. Marriage was proceeded by three months of courtship between the couple, during which they did not have sex. If the union was approved of by the girl's family, the man would return to the girl's home bringing a gun. He would fired off the gun into the air and gave the gun as a gift to her family. There was polygyny. Sioux men lent out their wife sexually to other men. If a another man refused to have sex with a Sioux wife, it was considered an insult to the Sioux.
