Plains and Plateau Tribes: SARCEE

	Sarcee The Sarcee Language is part of the Athabaskan Language family. The Sarcee had a bilateral kinship. Girls virginity was guarded for participation in the Sun Dance ceremony and some of the other ceremonies. Courtship began with flirting during chores. If the couple liked one another, parents made arrangements. Gifts were exchanged between families. The couple lived with the wife's family and the husband supported the wife's family and hunted for them, until the couple acquired enough property to be on their own. There were more women in the tribe than men. Men were constantly killed in battle. Polygyny was common, mainly sororal polygyny. Men were obligated to marry a deceased brother's wife.
