Southeast Tribes: QUAPAW

	Quapaw The Quapaw Language is part of the Siouan Language family. The Quapaw have patrilineal clans. Before a couple could marry, they had to have permission of their parents. If the parents approved, they had a public ceremony. Near the sunrise of the ceremony, the groom gives the bride a leg of deer. The bride gives the groom an ear of corn. The two separate for the rest of the day and then consummate the marriage at sunset. The couple then lives with the groom's family.
