Southwest Tribes: PUEBLO

	Pueblo The Pueblo are a part of the Kiowa-Tanoan Language family. The Pueblos have a bilateral kinship system. They have matrilineal descent for their corn groups and they have patrilineal descent for rule in the kiva groups. Each person inherits both descents. The corn groups have four major responsibilities. They give the first solstice ceremony baptism. They give medicine water. They assign a corn father as an escort of the member to attend society meetings. And they hold four day retreats in the home of their leaders officers during the full moons before summer and winter solstices to have sun dancing and prayers.
