	Kootenai The Kootenai spoke from the Kutenai Language isolate. The Kootenai have a matrilocal residency. A household consisted of the grandparents, their unmarried children, their married daughters, their husbands and children. There was no formal marriage ceremony, but marriage was simply an agreement between couples. There was sororal polygyny. Men do bride service for the girl's family. A man is expected to go live with the wife's family and hunts for them until the couple acquires enough property to live on their own.
