Northeast Tribes: HURON

	Huron The Huron Language is part of the Iroquoian Language Family. After puberty, sex was initiated by either partner. All sexual activity took place outside of public view. There was no formal wedding cermony. Couples could simply cohabitate together and have sexual relations with others they were not living with. Descent and inheritance is matrilineal and all property was passed down through women only. Sexual relations with anyone in their mother's clan was forbidden. If a woman grew weary of her sexual partner, she would simply ask him to remove himself from her house. Since all property belonged to women, he had to take his clothes and leave.
