Plains and Plateau Tribes: CROW

	Crow The Crow Language is part of the Siouan Language family. The Crow had matrilineal clans. Marriage between a couple also meant that the husband had the right to have sex with his wife's sisters. Children out of wedlock were considered shameful to the brothers. Some Crow girls did try to give themselves abortions by giving themselves blows to their abdomens. Childbirth took place by the mother-to-be kneeling on robes with elbows supported. It was assisted by a midwife and the grandmother cut the umbilical cord. The baby was washed, greased and wrapped in a robe. Infants were placed on cradleboards until the baby could sit up on its own.
