	Comanche The Comanche Language is part of the Uto-Aztecan Language family. The Comanche had a bilateral descent and bilocal residency. They lived in teepees and wickiups with their nuclear families. Marriage between cousins was prohibited. Chiefs were usually polygynous, sororal polygyny. There were no puberty ceremonies, however, at puberty, boys were sent to live in a separate lodge with other boys and girls were sent to live in a separate lodge with other girls. To obtain a bride, men would give gifts to the girl's parents: meat, bows, arrows, and horses. Childbirth took place in a separate lodge, attended by a midwife and a female relative. Children stayed naked until age five.
