Southeast Tribes: CALUSA

	Calusa The Calusa Languages is part of the Muskogean Language family. Not much is known about the common people's sex customs among the Calusa, however, the upper class or chief's sex customs were well documented. The Spanish first came into contact with the Calusa in the 1600s. The chief had many wives and was polygynous. He also married his sibling sisters. The Calusa chief wanted an alliance between the Spaniards and his tribe so he asked the Spanish Governor Menendez to marry his sister as a requirement of the alliance. The Spanish ceded from the area and the English formed an alliance with the Creek. The Creek continued raiding the Calusa until they drove them into the Carribean islands and eventually into Cuba.
